Boggled
The South Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee has reinstated a state senate candidate to run in the June primary against an incumbent who is believed to be behind a legal effort to have his opponent and nearly 200 others statewide removed from the ballot. Never without political drama, the reinstatement comes with a contrived controversy about a videotape.

The South Carolina Con
South Carolina is a great place populated by wonderful people (and it’s share of buttheads). It’s a state with great tradition and even greater potential, but one of those traditions is threatening it’s future. That tradition is the subversion of con artist politicians and it’s greed-driven relationship with guttersnipe media. Now, that con job is about to steal an election.

SC Blogger: U.S. Troops Are “Hoodlums,” “Nobodies” & “Juvenile Delinquents”
There have been some very unfortunate incidents in combat zones, some of them recent and caused by U.S. military personnel. Of all of mankind’s stupidities, war is the worst of them all and it becomes even more-so when combatants cross the line from warfare to humiliation and degradation. But these are isolated incidents and in no way represent American values. There is a group of people, however, that believes otherwise. To them, “military service has become almost a scarlet letter.”

Not Nikki
Now that the Republican Party has nothing to keep it occupied , the latest buzz is about Mitt Romney’s running mate. I’m not sure where to put this on the Scale Of Excitement. Maybe somewhere between Swamp People and Celebrity Apprentice Boardroom Rants.

Running the GOP Numbers
The race for the Republican nomination for President is still in the embryonic stages, and, as is always the case with politics, things can change overnight. Still, there are some very interesting (telling?) numbers to consider even this early in the process.

Perry Supporters React
Following Rick Perry’s blockbuster announcement withdrawing from the race for the Republican nomination for President, the Palladian View was on site interviewing women about his decision and his endorsement of Newt Gingrich.

Iowa, Endorsements and a Possibility
Mitt Romney’s first place tie with Rick Santorum in the Iowa Caucuses have resulted in some curious punditry. It’s far too early in the electoral process to divine great wads of wisdom from the results, but some ideas are beginning to take shape.

It’s A Great Day In… Oh, NEVER mind!
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has instructed state employees to answer official telephones with the ever-so-happy greeting “It’s a great day in South Carolina!” To be honest, I put the exclamation point in there. That item of punctuation implies enthusiasm, a feeling I’m not sure is involved with every phone pick-up in state offices. So, is thIs salutation a pronouncement or propaganda?

Non-Predictions
I don’t like making predictions. Forecasting too often ricochets back on the conjurer and exposes him/her as … wrong. Ask any TV weatherperson – sorry – meteorologist. The first of the year is loaded with prophecies for the twelve months ahead as “experts” will fill columns and airtime with prognoses for everything from who will win Academy Awards to stock market picks, the Super Bowl, celebrity divorces (and deaths), natural disasters and the economy.

Politics of Desperation
The Iowa Caucus is a couple of weeks away and South Carolina’s “First in the South” primary just under a month. As the days slide away, so does respect and truth.
