North Korean Rocket Failure: Flaw or Sabotage?

Last week, the North Korean government launched a controversial rocket supposedly to put an “earth observation” satellite into orbit. However, the vehicle is believed by many in the international community to be a test for an intercontinental ballistic missile. The launch was a failure as the rocket exploded just a couple of minutes after launch. The official story is flawed engineering, but, was it?

Eggs of Gold

The current attempt to cut the U.S. budget and try to revive our economy is making slow progress with few significant savings. The effort seems to focus on domestic spending; duplicative funding, earmarks, outdated programs, entitlements and items that can otherwise be sacrificed in difficult economic times.

The intricacies of foreign aid are not easy to decipher. In reading the justifications for the funds, you’ll find a bushel full of vague reasoning to “promote” this, “enable” that or “encourage” something else. And though many millions of dollars are spent for very good and necessary causes, there are some real curiosities when scanning through government budget proposals.

Japan

I love Japan. I was fortunate to have lived in Tokyo Prefecture for three years and enjoyed just about everything about the country. The current, horrible catastrophe in Japan has affected our family as I’m sure it has others who have experienced this wonderful land. It has us asking questions that might not strike others, so I’m offering here a little bit of information to provide some context to the physical challenges the country is facing.

The Vegetable Cart Revolt

As the greatest beacon of freedom in the world, it is necessary for the United States to be the example of democracy. And, if our own government won’t assume that role, as many to be the case with the Obama administration, then the citizens must do so. We owe it not just to ourselves, but to every human on the planet.

The Digital Coup

an unpopular government, there has been unrest. Not always has that citizen disapproval manifested into a removal of the offending rulers. In fact, protests have often led to more oppression and tighter controls. Egypt 2011 is the exception.
