The Lies Men Tell…

A couple of days ago I wrote a piece about a “toxic attitude towards women” in which I spoke against those who demean women in public service by referring to them using offensive – reprehensible – language. Noting some of the more prominent violators on the national stage, I also pointed to a South Carolina blogger whose website is a cesspool of such rhetoric. I also called him a liar. Responding to my post on his site today, he validated my last point.

Obama’s Million Dollar “Man”

Following my previous post, I want to share this video produced by the conservative women’s group ShePac.

WARNING: Some of the language is explicit.  (But, apparently, that’s “OK” because it’s “comedy.”)

Words!

Politics have never been civil. Not completely, anyway. Whether lies about opponents, spin and distortion about one’s own record, fanciful voting or creative funding of campaigns, politics is nasty stuff.

If one were to psychoanalyze American politics, you would find a very adult subject confined within a juvenile process. It seems we can’t discuss things political without first becoming defensive, then outraged followed by mounting attacks on things irrelevant to the subject. Ultimately, we get to name calling.

A New Healthcare Mandate: Guns

There is increased – and heated – national discussion about healthcare mandates either enacted, proposed or perceived. The debate is between “protecting the populace” – those who favor the dictates – and “government intrusion” – those who disagree with them.

Should the government require people, institutions, organizations or companies to purchase a product or service? That the center of the argument about Obama-Care and the recent dust-up about abortions and contraceptives. But is this debate too limited? If there is to be a Constitutional deliberation, why not expand the logic to test the viability of either side?

The Pig Farmer and the Mosque

It’s beyond outrageous.  It’s insane.  But in the world today, it’s no surprise and, unfortunately, we can expect more of the same.  The growing Muslim population – a religion of no tolerance for other theological thought and steeped in violence towards any who disagree and abuse of their own women and children – threatens every democratic state in the world.  This Texan, however, gives ‘em a good ‘ol “kiss my bacon.”

Don’t Be Stupid

There are a lot of problems in the United States – in the WORLD. As citizens of both we need to be as smart as we can be about what these problems are how to fix them.

Mistakes of the Father

Political campaigns are as delicate as they are brutal. No matter how hard a candidate pushes and pulls, (s)he is vulnerable to disaster by their own words. Whether innocently misspoken or candidly honest, a turn of the phrase can turn a run for office into a run for the exits.

Age and Politics

Do we care about age when it comes to our politicians? Should we? Much was made about Ronald Reagan’s age when he was president (too old) as was John Kennedy’s (too young). With folks living longer and being more productive in their “later” years, does age (or youth) matter?

Politically Correct Madness

“My faith in government is diminished. It invents euphemisms … Little Rock is a drive by and Fort Hood is just workplace violence. The truth is denied.”

“Occupy”

Sometimes, the stupid and the foolhardy don’t need additional promotion. Their words alone testify to their ignorance. So it is with the “Occupy” movement and its proponents.
