Taking a page from Barack Obama’s “Blame Someone Else Book of Politics,” Rep Bob Inglis whined to the Associated Press yesterday:
Inglis goes after Palin: ‘Lowest form of political leadership’
(CNN) – Republican Rep. Bob Inglis, who last month lost a primary battle to retain his seat, is now taking aim at some members of his own party – the second ousted Republican to express frustration with the GOP in as many weeks.
In an interview with the Associated Press and confirmed to CNN by his office, Inglis targets the “death panels” phrase made famous by Sarah Palin when the former Alaska governor inaccurately claimed the Democratic-backed health care legislation would ration health care for the elderly.
“There were no death panels in the bill … and to encourage that kind of fear is just the lowest form of political leadership. It’s not leadership. It’s demagoguery,” said Inglis, who lost his primary challenge to conservative Trey Gowdy by 42 points last month and faced heavy criticism for voting in favor of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) in 2009.
In a series of Facebook posts last summer, Palin repeatedly suggested the health care legislation would amount to rationing and coined the phrase “death panels” to suggest government bureaucrats, not doctors, would determine the type of health care one receives.
The de-bunked phrase was quickly repeated by detractors of the bill and is credited with spurring heated opposition to the measure.
Inglis said such words amount to “preying on [voter's] fears.”
“I think we have a lot of leaders that are following those [television and talk radio] personalities and not leading,” he said. “What it takes to lead is to say, ‘You know, that’s just not right.’”
The comments from Inglis, who has served in Congress since 1993, come two weeks after Bob Bennett, – the Republican senator who was cast aside by his party in a primary earlier this year – suggested the GOP is devoid of fresh ideas.
“As I look out at the political landscape now, I find plenty of slogans on the Republican side, but not very many ideas,” Bennett told The Ripon Society, a Republican think tank last month.
“The concern I have is that ideology and a demand for absolute party purity endangers our ability to govern once we get into office,” Bennett also said.
I can’t believe Inglis is getting the publicity he is. Are we suppose to heed the advice of someone who lost his election by 42 points? it seems to me the only ones out of touch are the ones not paying attention to what is happening around them. The republican party had better not be listening to Lotts ideas about co-opting the Tea Party. There is a movement, it is pure and we are sick and tired of politicians telling us what is good for us, it is time they listen to us. We are informed and we are pissed.
Palin did us all a service when she coined the term “death panel” to describe the net result of Zeke’s plans for rationing healthcare. Of course the Zeke I am referring to is key Obama health care adviser Dr. Ezekial Emanuel (brother of Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel), and his approach is entitled “Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions,” published on January 31, 2009. This is too difficult for most on the Left to understand: once the Government is in charge of healthcare, nameless, faceless bureaucrats will determine who gets what, and the result will be more folks dying earlier than is the case now. Thank goodness for Palin’s “death panels” phrase.

Anyway, I hope Bob Inglis finds honest work and someday realizes that it’s a bad idea to compromise on liberty.
The defense the supporters of the socialized medicine law keep bringing up is that there is no entity formed by the law that is formally entitled, “The Death Panel.”
Obviously, the reason “death panel” was brought up as a descriptive phrase by many was to point out the inevitable rationing from socialized medicine which would lead to decisions to not allow certain procedures and treatments being used to sustain life according to bureaucrats managing the programs. All one has to do to see what is coming is to look at the socialized medicine practices of other countries. The death panels–by any other name–are routinely sentencing to death the elderly and other sick persons deemed too expensive to keep alive.
Inglis lost by 42 points due to the obvious moral and political corruption he fell prey to in the pursuit of power based on deal-making and vote-buying and selling. In other words, he was bitten by the vampire economics of Lindsey Graham and other fascists in D.C. who have decided to rule rather than represent. Rather than allow Inglis to plant his foot on our collective neck or grind his heel into our collective face, the voters in his district wisely chose to end Inglis’ political career by the ballot induced death of tens of thousands of voters’ cuts. Another Lindsey Graham-like traitor was therefore nipped in the bud and any rational person will rejoice in that result.

but the problem with all of that is, insurance.
insurance pays for almost none of my care. i have to have insurance. then i go out and buy what little bit of care i can afford after paying insurance….
so you don’t even NEED death panels. the entire system is set up to murder sick people and save money.
people, i have one prescription that costs over $1200.00 a month. how much other stuff you think I get?
Politicians like Inglis better wake up and smell the “TEA”.

Inglis is correct. I wish there was more wisdom like his in our nation’s political life.
