By now we should all be fed up with the absurd charges of racism by the Left when anyone disagrees with America’s first (sorta) black President.
It’s a tiresome accusation and a desperate act of desperate politicians. What these idiot race-baiters (I’m looking at YOU Jim Clyburn) don’t realize is that they are doing great damage to all blacks in the public eye.
First, blacks in ANY position of responsibility will be viewed askance as people (of all colors) wonder if they didn’t rise to their station simply because of their race.
“Was (s)he promoted because the boss didn’t want to be called a racist?”
“Was the general manager afraid to look racist so he gave him the bigger contract?”
“Is he a starter only because he’s black?”
“Is Jim Clyburn the House Majority Whip simply because of his race?” [It sure isn't for his intellect!]
Second, and more importantly, voters who are not nor never have been racially inclined may well vote against a black candidate because of the negative potential of faux racism. No reasonable citizen wants their Senator or Representative to be marginalized for any reason and they want to be able to challenge that representative when warranted. But if one can’t complain as a constituent for fear of being tagged as a racist, then maybe it’s better to just not vote for that person in the first place.
And whose fault will THAT be?

The purpose of this race-baiting is to stifle the opposition to Obama and current legislation before and coming to Congress. They think that they can galvanize support of the American public for Obama and his policies by blunting the opposition by painting them as racist. Won’t happen; if it does, Clyburn and the Democrat party are sicker than I ever imagined. Most of the moderates, and that includes some Democrats find this disgusting. The only person that I have seen express absolute glee is Keith Olbermann of MSNBC. He is on the air every night, looking at his picture of Obama, listening to Clyburn and Carter, while he mentally masturbates, dreaming of the paradise Obama has brought to us. In a way it is sad, but then it has the opposite effect they want. It is actually strengthening the conservative position.
You brought up a couple of good points, both are valid. It is unfortunate that a handful of people will keep insisting that this is the way to further their cause.
Carter is just a senile, ever-babbling, self-loathing, egotistical dotard who should have quietly went away over 28 years ago. Clyburn is..well.. simply a fool and he should accompany Carter off into the sunset.
