STOP IT!

South Carolina politics is just getting more and more oozy – like a weeping infection.

  • From lousy schools to lousier ones. The “Corridor of Shame.”
  • High teen pregnancy and escalating drop-out rates.
  • Poverty and unemployment because of a bad economy which leads to more lost jobs and worsening poverty.
  • Growing illegal immigration.
  • Increased college tuition.
  • An idiotic higher education system unchecked in part because there is no State Board of Regents to manage it.
  • Decaying small towns – once the backbone of the state.

And what do South Carolina’s political leaders do?

  • Cheat on their wives.
  • Call out other politicians as “gay” assuming that to be a negative.
  • Refuse to use federal largesse to reduce the debt, instead, lying about the need for that money or “teachers will be laid off and prisoners released.”
  • Call the President of the United States a liar during an nationally televised speech to a joint session of Congress.
  • Poison the well of reasonable discourse with hatchet-men called “consultants.”
  • Demote state representatives because they demand government transparency.
  • Play the “race card” because someone disagrees with the President.
  • Name a child “Mignon.”

There is far too much at stake in the future of South Carolina for it’s leaders to be messing around with stupid, trivial stuff.  Fiddling while Columbia burns.

STOP IT.

Get to work and fix problems, don’t get together and create more.

Represent your constituents – who are also your family, friends, neighbors, business partners, customers, parishioners and fellow citizens.

The land now designated as “South Carolina” was first settled in 1670.  What will it look like in 2070?  2050?  2020?  Next year?

GET YOUR MINDS IN THE GAME AND OUT OF THE GUTTER.

BE PATRIOTS, NOT PAWNS, PANDERERS, PHILANDERERS OR PUPPETS.

BE SMART NOT STUPID; STRONG, NOT SHEEPISH.

BE PEOPLE, NOT POLITICIANS.

And, for the citizens, throw them out.  Every one.  Start over and let it be known that you don’t cotton to folks messin’ with your state, your taxes, your property, your children’s education, your job or your future.

Nail them to the wall until they STOP IT!

For the most part, I agree with your assessment of current SC politics.Although there are a couple of things on your list that I think the individual can and should control. Let’s split the difference and just say that yes, that SC government spending and policies has diverted personal responsibility.

“And what do South Carolina’s political leaders do?”
    All the above.
If they would just limit themselves to the first two things, and do nothing else during their elected terms, I would be happy.
But, there is one of my pet peeves on that list, “the race card.” I was online earlier this morning perusing some of my favorite blogs. If I had a dollar for every Democrat politician or supporter that invoked the “race card,” I would be up to my chin in money.(reminds me of one of my all time favorite songs) It’s old, worn out, over-used, seldom true, it’s an emotional place to go when the brain can not engage in rational political thought. The accusation has become as common as gun shots in the ghetto, just background noise. The “race card” has become the philosophical Kudzu of the Democrat party. It’s everywhere, it’s everywhere, and it seems to be growing at a faster rate.
And “Mignon” is just beyond comment.

And, for the citizens, throw them out. Yeah, what a swell idea, Batman. I would give a nice, new, crispy twenty dollar bill to have everyone of them thrown out of office this afternoon and have an election for all offices tomorrow morning. But you know what, come Monday morning, we would have the same ole people or same ole people look-alikes in office. When you have a major portion of your constituency going to the post office for a check, filling out government forms for health care, and buying better meats on an EBT card at the grocery store than I can afford, you bet your ass they will continue to give us the governing schlocks that we have become so fond of.
Right now, with 50% of the wage earners paying no taxes, 30% of the population on food stamps, and those numbers growing while expecting and looking for more freebies, it ain’t going to happen. All given to us by those noble National and state politicians elected by so-called freedom-loving people. Someone please send them the memo, they are slaves..

  2. Every one?

    Even your new crush Nikki?

    Oh my.
