When President Obama addresses Congress and the nation tonight on “health care reform,” he has only one option… lie.
With so much energy and so many resources invested in his socialized medicine plan, he can’t afford to have this go down and out.
Obama’s poll numbers are dropping and that of the Democrat-run Congress are even worse. The government got it’s head handed to it by citizens all across the country at town hall meetings and local caucuses all summer. The message is very, very clear – we’re watching.
But Obama can’t concede to the masses. After all, that would be “mob rule” and we can’t have THAT! Besides, if he even looks to the middle, the far left from which he comes would explode – which, of course, is not a bad thing, but for Obama it would be… um … unsavory.
If he alters the original bill, then how do those that have so vehemently supported it and testified to the people of it’s fairness and cost savings suddenly admit that there were flaws that require correction? How does HE retain trust and confidence by changing that which he has so ardently pushed?
He can’t – and he won’t.
Tonight, President Barack Obama will lie to the American people. He will, in his usual eloquent manner, say many wonderful things that will bring the Democrats in the Congressional audience to their feet in boisterous applause. It will be nothing more than eye and ear candy.
He must reverse the animosity that he and Congress have faced over the last couple of months. He has got to give Representatives and Senators an “out” that will allow them to vote for his reform package with minimal electoral consequence. To get a win on this, Congress has gotta come out of the session all smiles saying “he nailed it! We’re good to go now!”
And they will.
Oh – don’t ignore the timing of this speech – just a few days in front of the big September 12 event on the Mall and across the country. Obama’s remarks will be designed to minimize the perceived need for such protests.
If you oppose health care reform as it has been proposed thus far and you hear something you like, it’s a lie.
If you support health care reform as it has been proposed thus far and you hear something you don’t like, it’s a lie.
Some believe Barack Obama’s presidency is in the balance with this speech. All the more reason for him to say whatever it takes to come out on top.
Remember what he has said and done thus far. Remember the people with which he has surrounded himself. If his speech suddenly makes his health care “reform” palpable, be suspicious.
It’s a lie.

Joe Wilson nailed it. “You lie!”
Lying is what politicians are best at. History is the best judge of what to expect, not a 45 minute glossy speech.
– Social Security will only be temporary – Lie
– We will never tax Social Security – Lie
– The toll booths will go away once the road is paid for – Lie
– Saddam Hussein supported Al Qaeda – Lie
– We will not give benefits to Illegal Immigrants – Most Recent Lie!
Spy,
Your prophetical renderings about the speech that Obama delivered impressed the hell out of me. You were, for the most part pretty much right on the money. After reviewing your post again and after the speech, I am sure Joe Wilson would be proud of you. (just kidding)
Not to take away any praise for the post, but, I also get impressed watching my dogs dig holes in the yard. (just kidding again)
“How About That!”
You did good!
