South Carolina State Senator Jake Knotts (President of the “I Love Andre Bauer (But Not In THAT Way) Fan Club“) and Newman to Mark Sanford’s Seinfeld, came out (pardon the expression) yesterday to defend the Lt. Governor by saying it was the GOVERNOR that’s trying to screw him (again, not in THAT way).
What a fabulous way to keep the “issue” open and divert attention to a political corpse.
When it comes to politics, seldom are there coincidences. As written here yesterday, what’s happening with/to next year’s gubernatorial candidates isn’t coincidence so much as it is contrivance.
What would be Mark Sanford’s gain in spreading rumors about Andre Bauer? OK, other than vengance and even then, ordance would be better spent on other targets.
Who, then, WOULD benefit? Attorney General and candidate for governor Henry McMaster, for one. He has on his staff someone with a track record of introducing “poison pills” into race to benefit his candidate. And, as mentioned in my previous post, with Gresham Barrett in big trouble and Brent Nelsen switching to campaign for Superintendent of Education, only Bauer, State Senator Larry Grooms and State Representative Nikki Haley are left in McMasters’ way. By marginalizing Bauer (and blaming Sanford) and pitting the like ideologies of Grooms and Haley against each other, McMaster/Quinn will have smooth sailing.
Yeah, yeah, Knotts isn’t a Quinn client, but how hard would it be to convince him that the hated Mark Sanford is trying to hurt his beloved Andre Bauer?
Just precious!

This is so funny!
But painfully true.
