Lou Holtz – Congress?

There are reports that former Notre Dame/Arkansas/South Carolina football coach Lou Holtz is considering running for Congress in Florida.

There are some real interesting things to consider with this story.

First, elections are held in November.  Lou has had a tough time winning in November.

Second,  Lou is 72 and will reportedly run as a Republican.  That’s one vote to stamp down Obama’s health care package.

Third, I can’t wait for a debate between Holtz and Barney Frank.  Speech pattern monitors will burn out.

Next, the GOP leader in the House is John Boehner – of  Ohio.  Should he and Lou come to disagreement, Holtz might come out on top.  Ask John Cooper and Jim Tressel.  The additional rumors that Lou would hire Phil Petty as his Chief of Staff isn’t making the Republican leader feeling any better about having Lou in the chamber.

And finally, with the Democrats are in power, the GOP would have a hard time filibustering.  Any time Lou speaks, he filibusters.

Honestly, this is a campaign and a candidacy I would almost pay to watch!
