Why So Afraid?

The Left is desperate.

It knows the lies and hypocrisy of its standard bearers – Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Frank, etc. – are being exposed to the American public and the Left can’t handle the truth.

Why else would the President of the United States target a radio talk show host?

Why else would there be such an uproar when a Governor stands up – virtually alone – to the power of Pennsylvania Avenue – owned on both ends by the Democratic Party?  Further, that Governor doesn’t even have the support of his own legislature, despite the fact that it is dominated by HIS party!

Local dingbats you would expect.  Consider the Columbia City Paper and a recent article that tells us:

Blinded by ideology, Gov. Mark Sanford can’t see what’s happening economically to people across the Palmetto State and how his behavior is hurting.

Our state’s devotee to the notion that government should be so small that it can be drowned in a bathtub is the anti-Dale Carnegie:  He’s winning enemies and influencing few.

So apoplectic is the Columbia City Paper that the article’s author, Andy Brack of the South Carolina Statehouse Report, actually calls up Strom Thurmond and Carroll Campbell as responsible and “mature” leaders.

Even better, to prove what a meanie Mark Sanford really is, Mr. Brack quotes a poll that has the Governor’s “unfavorable” rating at 53%.

“Fifty-four percent of voters who identify themselves as independents say they have an unfavorable opinion of the governor,” according to a press release.  “Fifty-six percent of all independent voters surveyed also disagreed with the governor’s handling of the stimulus money. “

First, there aren’t too many elected officials nationwide who are doing particularly well in opinion polls these days, so Sanford’s numbers aren’t that bad, given national circumstances.  In fact, Gallup has Congress at 54% – that’s the Democratic Party-controlled Congress.  But the hilarious part of the poll referenced by Mr. Brack is that … here it comes … it was conducted by the S.C. Senate Democratic Caucus!

That’s some fine journalism there, Lou.

So why is the left so irritated by a lame duck southern Governor?

The usual jab at Sanford is that he’s playing politics – he’s being difficult to bolster his “certain” campaign for the Presidency in 2012.

So, Sanford’s “ideology” is hurting children, spitting on the unemployed, denying needed health care and education funding.  Yeah, helluva platform to build a presidential campaign on.

What the Left cannot fathom is that someone would actually have principles and, heaven forfend! – act according to those principles.
