blueJ, you're as bad as Karl. You didn't offer one checkable fact, just your opinion.

Radio hosts themselves don't take "unscreened" phone calls, so of course Michele didn't!

And I don't believe you - the vast majority of people aren't willing to get off their rear ends to go to a meeting, which is irrelevant since my point is that radio reaches many m ore people anyway!

Even if it's true about visits to her office, what number would satisfy you? Should she let in 50, 100 people at a time? She's supposed to be representing her district, not answering questions all day.

Do you have these same petty issues with the liberals you support?

Oh, believe you me, constituents would show up if she had a public town hall meeting. She does not take unscreened calls during her radio appearances.

When groups ask to visit her office, even when it will be with her staff, not the Congresswoman herself, the group is limited to 8 members only.

Um, Karl, Michele has done better than hold a couple town meetings. I've heard Michele Bachmann on radio talk shows more than once (specifically Chris Baker's morning show on KTLK FM), and she took plenty of questions and gave common sense answers. If you were from her home district and listened to local conservative radio, you might know that. Which medium reaches more people, radio or a townhall meeting where no one shows up?

It's as simple as this: the electorate no longer accepts the Republicans as the party of small government and fiscal responsibility, and rightfully so. They are not against Big Government; they are against Big Government that supports the middle class and small business. They LOVE Big Government that support the ultra-wealthy and large corporations. Anyone with a fighting chance at a 3-digit IQ and who was conscious for any portion of the Bush Administration won't buy the "fiscal responsibility" angle. Taxes? Bush raised taxes not-stop during his administration, you just need to understand that deficit spending is a stealth tax.

The power in the GOP has fallen to a bunch of confused and weak-willed folks like Ms. Bachman who take great pleasure in setting standards for others that they can't meet themselves.

The problem began with Saint Barry; the acceptance of interventionism (deciding that you need a military big enough to defend your own country, along with several others) closes the door on small government and with it, fiscal responsibility.

You know what's interesting? Michele Bachmann will answer five questions from some blog in god knows where, but has yet to have a town hall meeting in the district she purports to represent. That's right. Since she was elected in 2006, Michele Bachmann has not had a single town hall meeting or for that matter ANY public meeting in her district, outside of two campaign debates last year. She's spent more time galavanting off to Israel (twice with her husband, paid for by Jewish lobby groups) than she has with her own constituents. Next time you ask Bachmann five questions, ask her about that.
