I believe Winston Churchill to be the greatest figure of the 20th Century. Tough (not too many politicians are), resolute, eloquent and wise, Sir Winston is a giant of freedom. He left with us a treasury of oratory and raw truth. Much of what this great man said is very relevant to the United States today:
The world today is ruled by harassed politicians absorbed in getting into office or turning out the other man so that not much room is left for debating great issues on their merits.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virture of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
I thought he was a young man of promise; but it appears he is a young man of promises.
Thinking how wonderful it would be to have the advantage of Churchill’s wisdom today, I’ve taken some of his remarks and “modernized” them.
“The country thought [Mr. Obama] was a prophet with a message. They found him a politician groping for a platform.“
“The [Democratic] Party is not a party, but a conspiracy.“
“[To Democrats] a man is called reactionary if he objects to having his property stolen and his wife and children murdered.”
[On Joe Biden] “I must warn him that he runs a very grave risk of falling into senility before he is overtaken by age.”
“There is not one single social or economic principle or concept in the philosophy of the [Democratic Party] which has not been realized, carried into action, and enshrined in immutable laws a million years ago by the white ant.”
[On Harry Reid] “His judgment is always at fault, and he is hopeless when in power.”
“If you wanted nothing done, [Barney Frank is] the man for the task. There [is] no equal to him.”
“I remember, when I was a young child, being taken to the celebrated Barnum’s Circus, which contained an exhibition of freaks and monstrosities, but the exhibition which I most desired to see was one described as the ‘Boneless Wonder.’ My parents judged the spectacle would be too revolting and demoralizing for my young eyes, and I have waited fifty years to see the ‘Boneless Wonder’ [now called the Republican Party].”

“Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.” John Stuart Mill actually said that — Don’t put words into Churchill’s mouth.
John Stuart Mills was a utilitarian. Is that your model?
Honest people will have no problem admitting that neither major party yet owns a controlling interest in stupidity nor that stupid people have yet mastered how to own a controlling interest in either party.
Richard & Ron Paul for Presidents~2012!
[We are going to need more than one by the time Obama is finished.]
