Fox News is reporting that GoPac chief Michael Steele is seeking the Chairmanship of the Republican National Committee.
In June, the ever prescient Spy wrote
This guy is the real deal and should have been named chairman of the RNC two years ago. He should have a position of prominence during the convention and in the campaign, not just as a black counter to Barack Obama (Steele would win, not just on policies, but he’s 6′4″ and his ears are proportional to his head), but intellectually and charismatically, Steele can deliver the message that the Republicans can and will deliver to every corner of the American landscape and to every citizen.
If the GOP wants to regain relevancy and intends to represent the core values of the American citizenry, Michael Steele will be given the chairmanship by acclamation.
Read my post: “Michael Steele: Conservative Republican African-American” to see his views on such issues as the war in Iraq, the budget deficit, affirmative action, energy policy and more.
As I wrote in June:
Put Ronald Reagan’s vision and policies in Michael Steele’s hands, and watch the meter jump.
Unless the Republican National Committee wants the Party to become an afterthought, this good thing will happen.

I certainly think Michael Steele would make a
great RNC chair and then we need Newt for Pres-
dent and stop awarding the nomination to who-
ever is next in line for it, instead of someone who
actually will stand for our conservative values.
Do the Republicans want to lose everything????
